A Site Survey provides the network designer important information and create proper starting point for the project. It shows what is already on site, and gives a good indication as to what is needed.

Site Survey should include Site Requirement Specification (SRS) report which accurately detail all of the relevant physical, electrical and environmental requirements for all of the equipment to be installed in the sites.

SRS should specify in details:

  1. No. of Users,
  2. Physical Layout,
  3. Internet Requirement,
  4. Existing Cabling Infrastructure,
  5. Security Requirement,
  6. Application Requirement,
  7. Environmental Considerations,
  8. Electrical Considerations,
  9. Carrier Circuits (T1 or E1),
  10. Network Management Requirements.
